Around 7pm, a rotating trio or quartet takes the room for a proper concert set. By 9pm, the lights get warmer and the jam begins, musicians dropping in, trading solos, stretching things out together until midnight.

Moomba and Jazzabella meet at the intersection of rhythm, soul, and deep musical intuition. A global vinyl selector with decades of experience, Moomba brings a rich, percussive sound shaped by jazz, funk, soul, Latin, and boogaloo. Alongside her, Jazzabella brings an eclectic, vinyl-rooted approach, weaving together house, disco, funk, soul, jazz, and hip-hop with a focus on connection and community. Together, they create a dynamic push and pull between drive and atmosphere, balancing raw groove with fluid, soulful depth. At Moondog HiFi, expect a set that unfolds with intention: timeless, transportive, and fully locked into the room.

Max Kulchinsky and Johnny Dolphins link for a session rooted in deep grooves, sharp instincts, and an ear for the unexpected. Max brings a wide-ranging, crate-dug approach, blending house, disco, funk, and left-field cuts with a focus on flow and tension. Johnny Dolphins counters with a playful, rhythm-forward style, weaving through percussive club sounds, oddball edits, and sun-soaked selections that keep things loose but locked in. Together, they strike a balance between precision and spontaneity, building a set that moves effortlessly between heads-down and hands-up. Expect a night that stays in motion: loose, locked, and built for the floor.

DJ Steph Vaye brings a playful, high-energy approach to the booth, weaving together house, club cuts, bounce, edits, and left turns that keep the floor moving without losing the groove. Her sets balance sharp percussion, deep basslines, and feel-good tension, pulling influence from New York nightlife while staying loose and unpredictable. Expect a night that drifts between smoky late-night rhythms and peak-hour release, built for dancers who want to stay locked in till close. At Moondog, it’s all warm sound, low lights, and movement from wall to wall.

This week's featured trio: Idan Morim returns to Moondog with a trio built for tone and interplay, with Sam Weber on bass and Colin Stranahan on drums, weaving around Morim’s guitar lines with ease and restraint.

NYC mainstay CRY$CROSS moves through the underground with a sound that’s emotionally charged, rhythmically sharp, and impossible to pin down. Pulling from house, techno, garage, club edits, and diasporic percussion, her sets balance intensity with fluidity, built for locked-in dancers and late-night moments alike. A longtime presence in New York nightlife, CRY$CROSS brings community and experimentation to the center of everything she does, channeling the energy of the city into every blend. Expect deep cuts, high pressure grooves, and a dancefloor that stays moving start to finish.

Artist, illustrator, and longtime downtown fixture Nicholas Gazin steps into the booth with a selector style as eclectic as his visual world. Rooted in NYC nightlife and underground culture, his sets drift through dubby house, oddball disco, post-punk, leftfield electronics, and deep psychedelic grooves with equal curiosity and control. There’s a playful unpredictability to the way Gazin builds a room: strange turns, warm textures, and records that feel pulled from every corner of the collection. Expect a night of crate-digger energy, low-slung rhythms, and sounds that blur the line between art party and dancefloor ritual.
